Snake River Community Clinic Receives $160,000 Grant Award from Direct Relief’s Fund for Health Equity

Snake River Community Clinic is proud to announce it has been selected as a grant recipient from Direct Relief’s Fund for Health Equity, which supports organizations addressing social determinants of health.
“This latest round of more than $8 million in grants, made possible by generous support from MacKenzie Scott, the AbbVie Foundation, and Eli Lilly and Company, is the most recent infusion of funding for organizations deeply committed to eliminating health disparities,” said Dr. Byron Scott, Direct Relief CEO and Co-Chair of the Fund for Health Equity. “We are proud to support their work and the lasting impact they create.”
With this funding, Snake River Community Clinic will expand access to care and enhance patient services through:
• Enhanced Patient Engagement – Optimizing electronic health records (EHR) to improve patient interactions and address key social determinants of health.
• Expanded Access – Increasing operational hours and upgrading the Prescriber’s Drug Outlet to better serve a 100-mile radius.
• Workforce Development – Providing hands-on training for medical, nursing, and dental students while fostering leadership and equitable compensation.
• Patient Safety & Risk Management – Implementing new policies and training within the EHR system to ensure top-tier patient care.
“We are honored to receive this grant, which aligns with our commitment to whole-person care and community well-being,” said Burford-Bell, Snake River Community Clinic’s Executive Director. “Through our HEALER (Health Equity through Active Leadership and Excellence) philosophy, we recognize each patient’s story as central to the healing process.”
Selected by an esteemed advisory council, including former U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin and health equity leaders, this grant underscores Snake River Community Clinic’s role as a vital healthcare provider. As the only free clinic in the region, this funding strengthens its ability to bridge health disparities and serve as a model for accessible, high-quality care nationwide.
